The Translation Turing Test (TTT)

Welcome to the homepage for the TTT Tutorial, which was presented at the MT Summit in Geneva, Switzerland (June 2025).

The TTT is a variation of the classic Turing Test, and measures an AI’s ability to comport itself as a human during translation-industry tasks. We conducted a TTT, and are now sharing the text of the blind conversations with the public in hopes of getting a wider sample of opinions. Can you tell the difference between a computer and a human in the translation industry?

Below are other resources prepared for the Tutorial, which was presented by Dr. Longhui Zou, Dr. Michael Carl, Dr. Alan Melby, Dr. Masaru Yamada, and Brandon Torruella. The resources may be of interest, whether or not one attended the tutorial.

This site is maintained by Alan K. Melby.

It’s not too late to join the TTT Mailing List.
