Index : Terminology-related Information : Descriptive Information
The core features of a terminological entry are the concept represented by that entry and the terms ascribed to that concept. All other elements included in the entry, with the exception of administrative data, can be construed as attributes either describing the concept itself (such as definitions or explanations) or documenting aspects of the terms (synonyms within a language or equivalents in multiple languages). Thus it is possible to divide all non-administrative data categories into those that are term-related and those that are concept-related. Within these subdivisions, it is also possible to distinguish between, on the one hand, those elements that constitute properties of either the term or the concept, and, on the other hand, relational elements, which in effect point to other elements in the termbase.
