(transformational) grammar

both systems a limited number of possibilities can be combined
to produce a large # of possibilities. The difference is that
Lull’s system produced 729 true propositions, whereas
Chomsky’s could theoretically produce every possible linguistic
expression – an infinite # of propositions.
